RenovationPlanltd is a real, local, one-name-on-the-job building company. Not a lead-generation website, not a call centre passing your details to three strangers. Gabriel Stano answers the phone, walks your site, writes the quote and works on the job himself — as he has done since 2001.

Company history

From a first-fix apprentice in 2001 to a full renovation firm

The short version: Gabriel learned every trade the slow way — on site, under people who did not tolerate a wonky tile course — and then put them all under one company so customers stopped having to project-manage five different tradesmen.

  1. 2001 — On the tools

Gabriel starts out as an apprentice on domestic plumbing and bathroom strip-outs, learning first-fix pipework, waste runs and how to set out a room before anything gets boarded.

  2. 2004 — Tiling and plastering

Moves into wall and floor tiling and wet plastering. Tiling becomes the trade he is recommended for most: everything laser set out, no cut tile hidden behind a door.

  3. 2008 — Carpentry and joinery

Adds first and second-fix carpentry — stud walls, staircases, doors, skirting and alcove joinery — after years of waiting on other trades to turn up and finish rooms he had prepared.

  4. 2012 — Full kitchen and bathroom installations

Starts delivering complete kitchen and bathroom refits solo: strip-out, plumbing, electrics coordination, boarding, tiling, fitting and final silicone. One crew, one programme, one price.

  5. 2017 — RenovationPlanltd registered

The business is formalised as a UK-registered limited company based in Bishop's Stortford CM23, trading on the same 16 years of hands-on work that came before it.

  6. 2019 — Extensions and whole-house refurbishments

Scope grows to rear and side extensions, knock-throughs, roof lanterns, screeded floors and complete house and garden refurbishments across Hertfordshire and Essex.

  7. 2022 — Media walls and statement joinery

Book-matched marble and porcelain media walls, hidden cabling, LED niches and fitted wardrobes become a specialism in their own right across Hertfordshire and Essex.

  8. Today — 25+ years and 48 five-star reviews

Every review across Checkatrade and MyBuilder is five stars, collected on those third-party platforms rather than typed onto this website. Gabriel is still on site every day.

Owner

Gabriel Stano — founder and lead tradesman

Gabriel Stano founded RenovationPlanltd and still does the work. He is a plumber, tiler, plasterer, woodworker, carpenter and installer — trades that most companies subcontract out to six different people, and the reason a RenovationPlanltd job does not stall for a week waiting on somebody else's diary.

He is based in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire (CM23), works across Herts and Essex daily, speaks English and Slovak, and prices work himself after a free site visit rather than sending a salesman. If you call 07578 797937, Gabriel is who picks up.

Recommended most often for tiling and bathrooms, but the bulk of the year is full kitchen fitting, bathroom refits, extensions and whole-house work.

An honest note on paperwork

Twenty-five years of trade certificates, cards and training records are no longer to hand — plumbing, tiling, plastering, carpentry and installation qualifications gathered since 2001.

Rather than pretend otherwise: where a job legally requires a current scheme registration or certificate, it is re-issued, re-sat or brought in from a registered specialist before that part of the work starts — notifiable electrical and gas work included. Nothing gets signed off on a certificate that does not exist.

What has not been lost is 48 independent five-star reviews, a decade of photographed projects on Instagram, and customers across Herts and Essex who will take a phone call about their job.

Insurance

Cover in place on every priced job

Insurance is arranged per project and to the level the work actually requires — the way independent contractors properly do it.

Public liability — £5m

Held for every quoted job: kitchens, bathrooms, extensions, media walls, tiling, plumbing, plastering and landscaping. Certificate provided on request before work starts, and always before first fix.

Scaled to the project

Structural work, extensions and anything involving scaffold or building control carries the specific cover that project needs, arranged before the start date. Low-risk finishing work — laying a carpet, hanging a door — does not need an extension bolted onto the policy, and we do not pretend it does.

If Gabriel is working, cover is live

There is no gap: cover is in force for the duration of every job on site. Between jobs there is nothing to insure, which is how per-project cover works for independent tradesmen.

Ask before you commit

Ask for the certificate at quote stage — call 07578 797937 or WhatsApp — and it comes back the same day. Anyone who will not send you one is not worth booking.

Tools & equipment

The van is a mobile workshop

Twenty-five years of buying the right tool instead of borrowing the wrong one. It is the difference between a job that runs and a job that waits.

Laser levels and laser measures

Every wall, tile course and worktop is set out from a laser line, not a spirit level and a guess. It is why tiling is the trade Gabriel is recommended for most.

M-class dust extraction

Vacuums that separate dust, paint and plaster residue at source, so cutting and sanding happen inside the house without coating it.

Wet-cut tile saws and rail cutters

Large-format porcelain and marble slabs cut cleanly on site, including mitres for media walls and shower returns.

Full second-fix carpentry kit

Mitre saws, track saws, planers, routers and jigs for staircases, wardrobes, alcove joinery and architrave.

Plumbing and pressure test equipment

Press-fit tooling, pipe freezers, pressure testing and leak detection before anything gets boarded or tiled.

Latex levelling and screeding kit

Mixers, pumps and levelling gear so LVT, tile and engineered wood go down on a flat, sound subfloor.

Thermal camera and damp meters

Used on survey to find cold spots, leaks and damp before a fixed quote is written.

A van set up as a mobile workshop

Racked out with a bench, extraction, power, materials and every trade's tools on board — Gabriel arrives able to finish, not to go shopping.
