Bathroom fitters in Ware

Full bathroom refits, level-access wet rooms and en-suites across Ware and SG12. One team does the plumbing, tanking, tiling, electrics, plastering and decorating, so the job runs 8 to 12 days straight and the quote you sign is the invoice you pay.

How a Ware bathroom refit actually runs

One team, one job, start to finish. Day one is protection and strip-out — floors covered, suite out, tiles off, skip on the drive or a permit arranged if there is no off-street parking. Days two and three are first fix: pipework rerouted, wastes reset to fall, noggins doubled behind the basin, rail, WC frame and any future grab rail. Then boarding and tanking, tiling, second fix, silicone, and a snagging walk-round with you before the final payment. Most Ware bathrooms are done in 8 to 12 working days and you are never left wondering who is turning up tomorrow.

Hard water is the reason Ware bathrooms fail early

SG12 draws some of the hardest water in the country, and it decides the specification here more than anything else. Sealed-cartridge mixers scale up and get thrown away; we fit brassware with serviceable cartridges, aerators that come apart, and glass treated at installation. A scale reducer on the incoming main is quoted as a separate line and on a Ware bathroom it typically pays for itself twice over the life of the room. The tanking build-up behind it is the usual one: cement board, taped corners, membrane over the tray lip.

Floors, falls and level access

Timber floors get overboarded and stiffened before tiling, because a floor that flexes cracks grout no matter how good the tiler is. Wet rooms get a recessed former between the joists so the finished floor is genuinely level with the landing, with the fall formed into the former rather than built up in adhesive, and a linear drain positioned so the shower screen sits on a flat line.

Riverside and New Road properties, and the state of the pipework

Behind the tiles in the older streets off New Road and down towards the river we still find lead tails, half-inch imperial copper and dead push-fit joints buried in walls. Those get cut out and replaced back to a sound connection rather than adapted, with new isolation valves fitted where you can actually reach them. It is photographed and priced before we touch it, so the extra shows up as an agreed line and not a surprise on the final invoice.

Bathroom fitting across Ware and the SG12 villages

Riverside cottages and the old maltings

The properties along the Lea between Ware and Stanstead Abbotts include converted maltings and cottages with solid floors, thick walls and occasional damp at low level. We check for rising damp before boarding, because tanking a shower onto a wall that is already wet from below traps the problem instead of solving it.

1930s semis on the Musley Hill and Kingshill side

The interwar semis around Musley Hill, Kingshill and Fanhams Hall Road nearly all have the original small bathroom plus a separate WC over the hall. Knocking the two together is the standard Ware job: one family bathroom, 1700 bath, 900 walk-in, concealed cistern, usually eight to eleven days and £5,800 to £8,500.

Bungalows and accessible conversions

There are a lot of bungalows in and around Ware and Great Amwell, which makes level-access work straightforward — on a suspended timber floor the former drops between the joists and you get a genuinely step-free shower with no ramp and no lip. We fit slip-rated floor tiles, thermostatic valves capped at 43 degrees and grab rails screwed into doubled noggins.

Questions

What people ask before booking

How much does a bathroom cost in Ware?

A like-for-like refit in Ware starts around £4,400. A standard family bathroom with a changed layout is typically £5,800 to £8,500, and a fully tanked level-access wet room is £5,200 to £7,400. Sanitaryware and tiles are listed separately so you control that part of the budget.

How long will my bathroom be out of use?

Eight to twelve working days for a full refit, nine or so for a wet room, four to six for a cloakroom. We work consecutive days rather than dipping in and out, and if it is your only bathroom we sequence the WC back in early so you are not without one overnight.

Do you supply the suite and tiles or do I?

Either. We can supply everything at trade rates from our merchants, or fit what you have bought yourself — plenty of customers pick their own tiles and we simply fit them. The quote shows labour and materials as separate lines so you can see exactly what is what.

Are you insured and do you certify the electrics?

Yes — £5m public liability, and all bathroom electrical work is carried out to Part P zone requirements with a certificate issued on completion. Gas and unvented cylinder work is done by the relevant registered engineer.

Do you do accessible and level-access bathrooms?

Regularly. Step-free wet rooms, slip-rated floor tiles, discreet grab rails fixed into doubled noggins rather than plasterboard plugs, comfort-height WCs and thermostatic valves — built to look like a normal bathroom, not a hospital one.

What happens if you find something hidden?

We photograph it, price it and ring you before doing anything. Rotten joists under a leaking bath and dead push-fit joints buried in a wall are the two we find most often. Nothing gets added to the bill without your say-so in writing.

Should I fit a water softener with a new bathroom in Ware?

It is worth pricing. Ware water is very hard, and a softener or at least a scale reducer on the main protects the shower cartridge, the screen and the boiler. We quote it as an optional separate line so you can decide.

Do you do step-free wet rooms in bungalows?

Frequently. A suspended timber floor takes a recessed former easily, so the finished floor is level with the hallway. Expect £5,200 to £7,400 fully tanked, tiled and with rails fitted.
